Experimental Research on Consolidation of Earthen Architecture Sites by Silicone-Acrylic Emulsion

- Abstract:
- The material for consolidating earthen architecture sites was being researched at present in our country. Silicone-acrylic emulsion was a new material. This article discussed the physical, mechanical and hydrolysis changes before and after the clay samples consolidated by silicone-acrylic emulsion. Tests including compressive strength, resistance to desegregation by water, frizzing and thawing cycles, wind-erosion and analysis of x-ray were carried out. Experimental research revealed that clay samples treated by silicone-acrylic emulsion gained good stability against water decomposition test and freezing-thawing cycle test, while the appearance and permeability nearly unchanged. Silicone-acrylic emulsion was proved to be excellent anti-weathering consolidation for earthen architecture sites
