Modal and Harmonic Response Analysis of Cutterhead CuttingSystem by High Precision Centerless Lathe

Abstract:
The centerless lathe is an important equipment for the surface treatment of linear bar and the cutter head system is an important part of the centerless lathe,which can directly affect the machining accuracy. Taking the XF-WXC centerless lathe cutter head system as the research object,this paper carries out the modal analysis to the cutter head system to obtain the first six natural frequencies and modal vibration shapes,analyzes the cutter head system at different speeds by setting the speed of different working conditions and then based on the modal analysis results,the harmonic response analysis under different working conditions is carried out to study the dynamic characteristics of the cutter head system. The results show that:the position of the tool tip of the cutter head system is the largest part of the force and deformation;the excitation frequencies that are prone to resonance are around 278Hz,449Hz and 480Hz,and the maximum deformation displacement at the resonance frequency is 0.036mm;What’s more,the cutting experiment results verify the reliability of the simulation analysis. And this paper aims at providing a theoretical basis for further optimization design of centerless lathe.
