Abstract:
Approximate calculation method of deflection is presented, in which the load-deflection curve of timber beams is simplified to two straight-lines, a line represents the elastic stage in which the compressive strain of the fringe wood fiber is less than the maximum elastic compressive strain of wood fiber, and another represents the plastic stage. In this method, deflections and bending moments of the maximum elastic moment and ultimate moment are only necessary to calculate. Comparison to the experimental results, the calculation results have a good agreement with those results, so it is shown that the method is enough accuracy.
