Abstract:
In this paper, a finite element method is used to carry out the elastic-plastic large deformation analysis on KX- and KT-joints. The ultimate bearing capacities of uniplanar K-, T- and X-joints are firstly analyzed, and then the multiplanar KX- and KT-joints. The results of the later are compared with that of the former, so as to evaluate the effect on the bearing capacity owing to the interaction between the in-plane branch tubules and the out-plane branch tubules. The results indicate that the interaction has some influence on the bearing capacity, and the influence on the bearing capacity of the out-plane branch tubules is more obvious than that of the in-plane branch tubules.
