Study on Effect of Assumption of Stress Wave-front for Impact Bifurcation Buckling of Axial Compression Bars

Abstract:
Stress wave propagation has great influence on impact buckling of axial compression bars. Most of the current research has not involved with the stress wave reflection at far end, and fixed constraint is considered at stress wave-front, which clearly overlooks the effects of unstressing part of bar and boundary condition at far end on impact buckling of bars. Dynamic bifurcation buckling of axial compression bars with different boundary conditions under step load are analyzed. Continuous of wave-front is used to solve the problem more properly instead of fixed of wave-front. Some calculation results about impact bifurcation buckling of elastic and elastoplastic bars are obtained.
