Abstract:
A total of three experimental specimens of through bolt-end plate beam-to-column connections consisting of concrete-filled square steel tube column and H-shaped beams had been tested under low-cyclic reversed loading to invesigate the hysteric behavior, the strength and stiffness degradation, the energy dissipation capacity and the failure modes. The only difference of all specimens was the axial compression ratio. Experimental results show that the story drift ductility ratios attain 2.38~2.45, the elastic and elasto-plastic story angular drift attain 0.0140~0.0158rad and 0.0341~0.0377rad respectively, and the energy dissipation ratios attain 2.561~3.820. The experimental results demonstrate that all specimens developed plastic hinges at the end of beams and provided superior seismic resistance in strength, stiffness, ductility and energy dissipation capacity. These results indicate that the seismic resistance exceeds that specified in Chinese Code GB50011-2001. Additional antiseismic design and research recommendations are presented.
