Abstract:
The work aims to research the influence of turning technology parameters on the surface roughness and to determine the appropriate combination of technology parameters, which be beneficial to a lower surface roughness while turning to remove the oxide skin on the surface of titanium alloy bar. Based on the central composite design of response surface method, the turning experiment of titanium alloy bar with oxide coating was carried out by using YG8 cemented carbide turning tool, and the surface roughness prediction model was established, which was verified to be accurate by the significance analysis; the influence of turning process parameters (including spindle speed n, feed speed v and cutting depth ap) on the surface roughness was also analyzed. The influence of process parameters on the surface roughness of titanium alloy bars with different thickness of oxide skin was compared. The error of the surface roughness prediction model of titanium alloy bar’s oxide coating removing is about 1.66%~3.33%, and the accuracy of the model is relatively high. The significance of spindle speed n, feed speed v and cutting depth ap are all less than 0.05. In the interaction of process parameters, the significance of v-ap to surface roughness is P<0.0004. By analyzing the influence of turning process parameters on surface roughness, the feasible turning process parameter range and feasibility are obtained. It is proved that the accuracy of the model is high and it can be used as the surface roughness prediction model of titanium alloy bar’s oxide coating removing. The order of the influence of turning process parameters on the surface roughness is: ap>v>n. In the interaction of process parameters, the interaction of v-ap has the greatest influence on the surface roughness. The influence trend of turning process parameters on surface roughness is not affected by the thickness of oxide skin. Under the working condition of feasible combination of turning process parameters, the oxide coating of titanium alloy bar can be completely removed and the lower surface roughness can be obtained.
